PhD thesis
Topological feature extraction on generalized maps for supervised learning systems applied to the cerebral vascular tree
Reconstructed meshes of the cerebral vascular tree are large, noisy and contain reconstruction errors, which makes registering several acquisitions difficult. The thesis proposes a simplification that keeps the essential topological features (cavities, tunnels) and minimal geometry. It introduces a new saddle point classification and a Reeb graph variant, the Local to Global Reeb Graph (LGRG), both computed in parallel from local information thanks to the generalized map formalism. These features then feed a 3D convolutional neural network for registration.
